Contactile: A Different Twist on iPhone Contacts
April 6, 2011 2 Comments
Majesty Software has just released a new iPhone app. It’s called Contactile and it offers a different approach to accessing the contacts on your phone. The motivation for Contactile grew out of the sometimes frustrating experience of using the standard Contacts app on the phone.
For small address books, the Contacts app is fine. As your address book grows, you often need to resort to excessive scrolling or using the search mechanism to locate a desired contact. Scrolling through a long list can be challenging and searching in the standard manner requires more than a few taps.
Contactile admits that you have to search at the outset and offers a faster way to drill down to your desired contact. Read more about it here.

I really like Contactile. It would not bother me if you had ads. I wish I could also search by Company Name. Actually, my ultimate desire with this ap would be to be able to go to settings and put a check by each field I want included in the search, but having Company Name searchable would be great. The other thing I would suggest would be the ability to go to Settings to set the maximum number of results that would trigger the program to display results.
But I’ll give the ap a good rating to try to encourage others to get it. Thanks very much for a good idea and clean program.
Thank you for the feedback!
The current behavior of Contactile is to search on the Company Name field for contacts that have a company name but have no first or last name. Contacts that meet these criteria are included in all search types (by first name, by last name, or by any name.)
I’m working on an update that should be ready in a week or two. Among other things, it will include settings to allow you to set the preferred list size as well as the maximum prefix length that will be allowed on a tile. I’ll consider adding settings for the search fields, but that probably won’t be in the next release.
